- Box Office Bomb: The movie grossed only a little over $200 million when the film's budget was stated at $150 million plus advertising costs. Sony Pictures blamed their 2013 summer loss of $197 million upon White House Down. Its direct competitor Olympus Has Fallen grossed less money but ended up being a box office success because of a smaller budget that helped the film earn two sequels.
