Warning: Moments pages are spoilers-off.

  • Riff being A Father to His Men, like when he checks Baby John's ear injury after the brawl.
Riff: That's gonna scar, buddy boy.
Baby John: (smiles) You think so?
    Riff: Frankenstein time!
  • As the opening scuffle is being broken up by the police, A-Rab can briefly be seen trying to console an injured Baby John in the background.
  • During the fight, Ice runs to Baby John and pulls him away from the danger.
    • The reason he's free to do this is that the guy he was fighting stopped in order to do the same thing to the guy Baby John was fighting.
  • When Tony refuses to come to the dance, Riff begins to suspect that Tony might be mad at him for dating Graziella after Tony went to prison and makes it clear he only did so because she said Tony dumped her beforehand and he would never try to steal Tony's girlfriend. Tony assures him he knows Riff wouldn't do that and he's fine with their relationship.
  • Tony including Valentina in "Something's Coming." The look on her face as this boy becomes optimistic for the first time in a while.
  • Chino holding the door open for María like a true gentlemen.
  • The way Tony and María's dance is staged, with them being behind the bleachers in the gym and thus truly alone. It's also sweet how she initiates the dance, with him joining in.
  • When Bernardo angrily breaks up the dance between Tony and María, Chino calmly and politely asks her if she'd like to stay or go home.
  • While Tony is singing of his love for María, a young Puerto Rican girl sticks her head out of a window, and Tony smiles at her and she cheerfully smiles back.
  • During "America", the entire community begin dancing with Anita and Bernardo and some children immediately run to join them, happily dancing with them to everyones awe.
    • Anita also starts the song by singing fondly about the island itself, while the other women bring up the problems being the abject poverty the people find themselves in.
    • Anita buys fabric from a local shop, singing "Buying on credit is so nice." Bernardo takes the receipt and sings "One look at us and they charge twice!" If you look closely, the old shopkeeper appears insulted by the idea that he'd overcharge a customer.
  • Bernardo and Chino's friendship. When they're introduced, Bernardo notices that Chino missed fastening a button on his shirt and closes it so that he doesn't look like a slob for his sister. It's also mentioned that Bernardo has been keeping Chino from joining the Sharks, recognizing that he has a better chance at life if he goes to school and gets an honest job.
  • While Diesel still misgenders Anybodys, he at least has the decency to tell A-Rab to leave him alone when he starts throwing a bunch of transphobic slurs at him, and even tries to break up the fight between them.
  • Tony and María's first date, in which he takes her to the Cloisters.
    • During the date, María demonstrates her faith by kneeling and praying in one of the chapels.
    • The two taking their vows, which leads into "One Hand, One Heart.
María: Yo, María, te recibo a ti, Anton.
Tony: I don't know what that- (realizes) Oh! Oh, that's-
      María: Don't laugh.
Tony: I, Tony...(catches himself) I, Anton, take you, María. Rich or poor-
      María: I'm poor.
      Tony: I'm poorer.
María: En la prosperidad y en la adversidad. Para amarte y respetarte. To love you and respect you.
      Tony: Siempre.
  • As "Cool" begins, Tony suggests that they grab some beer and weed and just go to the zoo, to which Riff asks "Like the old days?" It shows that, before all the gang wars, the Jets were just a bunch of teens out to have a good time.
    • Doing this would certainly be a violation of Tony's parole, but it's clear he's totally willing to risk that both to fulfill his promise to María to end the fighting and to keep Riff from ruining his life.
  • Tony arrives late to the rumble at the salt shed, and finds that the shutter doors are nearly closed. He's unable to open them by himself. Then Chino appears, and demonstrates he has no hard feelings about María choosing Tony by helping him lift up the door. It's ultimately undone by what happens next, culminating in Chino shooting Tony, but it demonstrates that Chino was genuinely a nice guy trying to make an honest living and that if it weren't for the gang war, he and Tony might have gotten along well and become friendly.
    • If you look closely, Chino momentarily tries to restrain Bernardo when he becomes determined to beat Tony.
  • While she may not love Chino, María does initially think he is a good man, and when he begins goofily dancing at the gym, she playfully joins him.
  • Without hesitation, Riff tries to take Tony's place when Bernardo starts beating the crap out of him and he refuses to fight back. As angry as he's been with Tony, he won't let Bernardo use him as a punching bag.
Riff: (stepping in front of Bernardo) He won't fight you! Fight someone who will!
  • The moment is strongly overshadowed by being a Tearjerker, but immediately after being stabbed Riff sees Tony absolutely heartbroken over what has happened and uses his last moments to try to comfort him.
  • Officer Krupke is clearly sympathetic to Anita as he helps her fill out the necessary paperwork after Bernardo's death.
  • Valentina does her best to console Tony after being falsely told that María is dead. Unfortunately, he is too distraught and runs outside begging for Chino to put him out of his misery.
    • In the previous versions, Doc is rendered so furious by the Jets attempting to rape Anita that he's unable to delicately tell Tony the false news about María. Here, Valentina keeps her composure, and even tries to impart some advice to Tony, saying that "life matters even more than love."
  • The day after the dance, Tony asks Valentina to teach him how to say some phrases in Spanish so he can better communicate with María. When he uses what he's learned on their date, María is clearly touched not just by the words, but that Tony also made the effort to learn her native tongue for her sake.
  • As he packs up to run away with María, Tony tells Valentina that they'll name all their daughters after her.
  • Given the treatment Anybodys endures from the Jets, the big hug he gives Tony at the dance, which Tony cheerfully reciprocates, is a welcome reminder that not everyone dislikes him for being himself. Anybodys also says later that Tony was actually in favor of him joining the Jets before he went to jail.
    • This scene description from the script: "Tony stands with Anybodys, who smiles, happy to be in his company - Tony's always liked and accepted him."
  • The way Quique gently and desperately tries to tell Chino not to kill Tony, telling him there's more to the world than the 20 shitty blocks that make up their neighborhood.
  • Anybodys volunteers to go out and keep track of Chino. The response from Ice? "You done good, buddy boy." The look on his face tells it with this simple act of validation.
  • In fact, while Tony's death is heart-breaking, he actually dies somewhat happy to know that María is still alive.
  • After María's "now I have hate" speech, Ice approaches her and tries to touch her shoulder. She screams at him to back off, and he listens, but it looks like he was about to try and console her. Braulio comes forward and gently tells María she needs to let go of Tony's body so the Jets can move him. She complies and he helps her stand up.
  • Members of the Sharks wordlessly coming together and helping the Jets carry Tony's body away.
  • Actually, right before the screen fades to black and the cops approach Chino and Valentina, the one who takes the gun does so delicately and the one beside Chino can be seen laying a hand gently on his shoulder; suggesting they won't be too rough with him.
  • Graziella and the other girls trying to defend Anita during the horrific attempted rape scene. They are as racially prejudiced as the Jet boys, but when this line is crossed, neither the racial divide nor the fact that Anita is Graziella's boyfriend's killer's girlfriend matter any more - only the fact that another woman is being assaulted.
