Despite being "The Demon of Solitude", Unico temporarily allows Beezle his horn in order to become his friend.

Despite the original Unico manga being very melancholy, alongside being a co-creation by Sanrio and Osamu Tezuka, the movie contains some genuinely heartfelt and uplifting moments.

  • Beezle rescuing Unico from drowning after falling into the ocean. After roughhousing with Unico by whipping him with his own tail, he gets a bit reluctant on saving his life. At first, he decides to wait but suddenly gets motivated on rescuing him. He's aware that the ocean is poisonous to demons, but he risks his life to rescue Unico, who almost drowns. He even returns Unico's horn for Unico to regain his powers.
  • After Unico rescues Beezle from sinking, he transforms into a "Mighty Unicorn" and flies him back to the surface. When Beezle wakes up, he's shocked to see Unico transformed into a giant unicorn until he quickly returns to normal. Unico explains to Beezle that he can transform into a Mighty Unicorn after a person he just befriended truly loves him with a warm smile. Beezle doesn't believe him at first until Unico gives Beezle his very own horn after Beezle gives back Unico's horn.
Unico: If someone truly loves me, I have the special power to turn me into that "Mighty Unicorn" you saw. And I think you love me Beezle.
Beezle: Huh? What did you say? Lo? (yells in disgust) Yuck! Stop it, stop! Yuck, that word makes me itchy all over! I love you? What a disgusting idea! Yuck
Unico: Oh come on Beezle you know its true. You do love me and I love you too!
Beezle: Are you trying to kill me all over again? Stop it I hate it!
Unico: (horn starts glowing) Here I'll prove it to you.
(Unico's horn fires at Beezle where he's given his own horn)
  • When Unico notices Katy suddenly getting choked up after he asks her "If she's ever been abandoned?" with Katy responds by telling him "No, who would ever abandon a pretty kitty like me?". He's visibly concerned before Katy suddenly runs up to hug him while she loudly confesses that she did get abandoned. Unico responds to her sorrow by gently hugging her back to help calm her down as she's crying loudly. Also doubles as a Tear Jerker.
    • In the 1986 Italian dub, Unico's empathy towards Katy's sadness is expanded a bit with a line exclusive to the dub. After Katy confesses that she was abandoned, Unico whispers "There.. there." to the poor cat as she continues crying.
  • The scenes with Chao/Katy and The Old Woman have quite a few cute scenes. When Katy turns into a human girl, she provides help and company for the old woman. After she turns back into a cat, she continues to try and help her out. Once she witnesses the old woman falling into a lake, she ends up saving her with Unico's help. As a result, she permanently becomes a human girl, much to the delight of Unico.
  • After Unico gets knocked out by The Baron's attack and calls for help from The West Wind and Beezle, The West Wind once again tries to take Unico away to a new location due to The Night Wind coming after him. Unico convinces her to stay on the island a bit longer to save Katy. While she's reluctant about his decision, she allows him a bit more time to stay to save Katy's life.
  • When Unico turns into a stronger version of "The Mighty Unicorn" before defeating The Baron's monstrous form. He personally thanks Katy and Beezle for the amount of love they gave him during their adventure. Katy and Beezle look on in pure amazement with Katy telling him how wonderful he looks.
  • While also a Tear Jerker, as The West Wind is taking Unico away from Beezle and Katy for real, Unico's final interaction with Beezle is to give Beezle a new horn after Beezle previously removed his own horn to bring Unico back to life during the climax.
