Heartwarming / Tearmoon Empire

  • Just as Mia is led to the guillotine, she bows her head in gratitude to Anne for the three years of unconditional kindness that she gave her in spite of the years of cruelty she doled out upon the maid before her imprisonment. To this, Anne holds her Mistress in a gentle embrace and prays for her soul's peace, letting the Fallen Princess finally know how it feels to be loved for who she is, and with just enough courage to Face Death with Dignity. This leads to Mia devoting her second life (while not trying to avoid death) to giving Anne, who in All But Name is her First and Best Friend, a life of comfort and joy, to repay the kindness that was her sole light of hope in her final years of despair.
  • After Mia's dance with Sion, she goes back to Abel who fetched a drink for her. Despite Abel playing the gesture off, Mia realizes that rather than just grab any drink out of standard courtesy, he went out of his way to get one that'd help her cool off after dancing, and is touched to have a boy treat her so well for the first time. It's in this moment that Abel goes from someone she was pursuing for pragmatic reasons to someone she sincerely falls for. It underscores how the basis for Mia and Abel's romance is, however simple, that they were people who were kind to each other.
  • Ludwig’s Heel Realization that helping the Empire requires more than helping things financially. He needs to not be dismissive of people. He realized dismissing the people of the New Moon district is wrong. Additionally, in the new timeline, he is more patient, and willing to answer people’s questions, such as Anne and Miabel, without coming off as condescending.
  • In Volume 5, after defeating Ruby in a race, she notices Ruby is beginning to cry. Rather than run her victory in her face, she decided to pull Ruby to the women’s tent, so they could have relative privacy. Afterwards, Mia is able to deduce Ruby is in love with Vanos much to her initial shock, but then becomes intrigued by the possibility of a ‘forbidden romance’. She becomes in favor of it, and she decides to do her part to help make it possible by recruiting Ruby into the Princess Guard, so she can be closer to Vanos.
    • Ruby and Vanos are eventually able to get married with Mai’s blessing.
  • Mia remembers a solider who remained loyal to her and the Empire and gave his life to protect the goods, so they could be distributed to the people. She is able to locate the soldier and recruit him into the Princess Guard.
  • Volume 7, Mia notices something is off about Chloe, and she decides without any prompting or ulterior motives to help her feel better and find out what’s wrong. After she finds out that Chloe’s father is sick from overwork due to his family business being sabotaged, Mia decides to help Chloe’s family for multiple reasons. Close is her friend, her father has been faithfully fulfilling their previously established contract, and she knows the person sabotaging the business is a shady person.
    • Mia purchasing all of the Forkland inventory and refusing to cancel their contract despite being offered a cheaper one. Ludwig agrees with Mia’s actions because he understands the human factor when it comes to economics.
  • In Volume 9, Mia is panicking over how to deal with the Sunkland nobles in the wake of King Abram's near death... but the moment she realizes that Sion is basically going through one of the worst moments of his life right now and desperately needs support, she steps up to the plate—and she does it on reflex, in sharp contrast to how she usually at least takes a second to consider how much she wants to get involved.
Sion Sol Sunkland, the princely paragon of perfection, was looking at her with such doubt, such apprehension in his eyes that he was all but pleading for help. The instant she felt his insecurity, she instinctually nodded.

"Don't worry, Sion. It's okay," she heard herself say before turning towards the crowd and declaring with a confidence that baffled even her...
  • In Volume 9, Mia forces Sion to admit his feelings to her, so she can turn him down gently rather than let his feelings fester. She tells him that he’s a good person, and there will be someone worthy of him someday. That leads to his moment with Tiona shortly after, and that becomes the seeds of a Second Love.
    • Particularly poignant is how it serves as the culmination of how Sion and Mia's relationship has developed, from Mia's infatuation turned mortal enemies in the original timeline to close friends in this one, where she truly means it when she says he's a wonderful person—more than she ever realized back when she had a crush on him. Though she lacks any romantic feelings for him now, a part of her can't help but wonder, had she tried to get to know him in the previous timeline instead of idealizing him, if they could have shared a future together.
    • For Sion’s part, Sion is grateful to Mia for forcing him to be honest and turning him down because it made him feel better rather than keeping it to himself similar to how his brother keeping his feelings to himself harmed him. He is also impressed by how Mia saw through him. Tiona comforts him which acts as a beginning for their eventual romance.
