• Rien asks Lammert why he ever came back to the Wildlands in the first place.
  Lammert : It was where my brothers were, Marinus.
• Rachel is a Sex Slave. So is Maela. Despite this, Rien never once hesitates to listen to their advice and clearly respects their intelligence.
• After regaining consciousness from a brutal whipping, Bastien's first concern is Maela and making sure its known what happened wasn't her fault
• Rien stepping between Rachel and the crossbows.
• Rien wistfully asking Bastien whether they could have been friends had they met under other circumstances, then later acknowledging that Bastien is the closest thing he has to a real friend.
• Aurel clearly notes that Maela and Bastien are in love, even if the two of them haven't figured it out yet. He gives her a copy of Bastien's mother's favorite book of poems.
• A small moment that can be missed if you haven't read Stone and Fire - 30 years in and Lammert clearly having more control of his abilities, and Efua still wakes up as soon as he does to check on him and make sure he's okay.

Blood and Ashes

• Liam finally gets to tell Rien the truth about how his father died. The prospect of doing so moves The Stoic to tears.

Stone and Fire

• Double moment. Lammert is so happy with getting his very first birthday present that he punches Jurgen for insulting them. Rather than be angry about getting his nose broken, Jurgen is ecstatic that his little brother finally threw a decent punch.
• Despite their antagonistic relationship, Jurgen showing off his Big Brother Instinct is one of these
  Jurgen : Nobody fucks with my brother but me
• Koert risking a flogging or worse to teach Lammert how to use a spear
• Jurgen calls Lammert stupid for being willing to pay silver for a barn kitten, then the moment he sees his little brother's dejected face he goes and gets him the kitten.
• Uduak had many options for taking custody of Lammert. She chooses to claim him as her son.
• Pauwel is two years older than Jurgen and absolutely thrilled to be 'grandpa' to Jurgen's son.
• Adaeze falls asleep curled up next to Liam, and her simple presence is enough to calm his nightmares.
• Jurgen hugs Adaeze before they are even properly introduced, figuring out who she by the way his brother smiles at her.
• Adaeze names her ship 'The Bard' to honor Koert's Heroic Sacrifice.
• It being discovered that Wendel allied with the princes of the Wildlands could cost Wendel his throne. He names his second son Paul in Pauwel's honor anyway.
• Though it ultimately leads to tragedy, Liam coming to Ocia and saving Rutger is a touching moment. Especially when he buys Rutger an elephant, then tells him the elephant is for him and he got something else to serve as Rutger's offering.
  • And despite the relationship between Rutger and Liam falling apart, it's clear the elephant is still Rutger's most cherished possession.
• Though Rutger is clearly their mother's favorite, at no point do Jurgen or Liam ever appear to resent him for that fact.

The Duchess

• Though it gets him in considerable trouble, Ruarc's loyalty to his family is heartwarming
• Ruarc and Gian taking care of and supporting each other
• A couple decades after their first meeting and despite their countries not getting along, Wendel and Jurgen are still friends, abet with benefits.
• Ruarc reassuring the traumatized Gian that Gian is still beautiful, and initiating the kiss.
• Despite being offered everything he wanted, Ruarc still won't leave without Gian.
