  • Following the "birthday flight," Hawk grumbles mildly about the young man vomiting all over the plane. But as soon as he sees the young man's girlfriend approaching, Hawk starts loudly declaring how fearless the still-shaken guy was in flight, while surreptitiously wiping leftover puke off the guy's face. Hawk may be a Manchild adrenaline addict, but he also has a heart of gold.
  • Tank is at his church on Sunday, fumbling awkwardly through his sermon. But as soon as he sees Frank among the congregation, he regains his focus and confidence as he relates the story of Team Daedalus and ties it into his message.
  • Frank's dogged determination to make sure his team (not just himself) gets the chance that was denied them by the bureaucrats forty years earlier.
  • The story Hawk tells Sara about knocking over a fiberglass port-a-Johns hat he thought was being used by his Romantic Rival, only to discover that the occupant was actually the girl he was smitten with, is pretty damn funny. But the way he talks about his feelings for her, and caps it all off with "I married her," just tugs at the heartstrings.
  • Hawk visits a lot full of retired NASA aircraft on display, including an SR-71 Blackbird. Hawk then reveals to Sara his personal connection to that jet: he flew that very SR-71 on her retirement flight. He describes the awesome capabilities of this, probably the coolest Cool Plane in history, in a way that tells you just how much it means to him to have rode such a bird to the upper edges of the atmosphere.
  • "Fly Me To The Moon", also counts as funny.
    • To elaborate, Hawk manages to save the world by taking a one-way trip to the moon using the boosters from IKON's warheads.
  • Near the end of the film, when the rest of Team Daedalus elect to remain with the Shuttle, as Frank attempts to land it manually.
Frank: I thought I told you to bail out!
    Tank: (defiantly) We're staying!
  • Near the end of the film. Watching Frank and his wife look up at the moon, wondering if Hawk made it safely.
  • The first time we see the younger astronauts and NASA employees really start to be amazed by the crew is Frank and Hawk turning up the centrifuge to 14 G's and taking it for a while before passing out. Even Roger and Ethan look impressed.
