Heartwarming / Jaune Arc, Lord of Hunger

Go To

Moments pages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

Initiation
  • The reason why Jaune tried to extend a hand of friendship towards Ruby during their first meeting was because she reminded him of his younger sister Amber.

Victory

  • A Fridge Heartwarming moment when Ruby and Pyrrha are shown waving "JNPR" pennants handmade by Blake. Just the idea that Blake actually took the time to handcraft team pennants for not only her own team, but also for team JNPR.

Responsibility

  • The fact that Glynda was willing to take the time out of her day to mentor Jaune and help him control his telekinesis. She really didn't have to and could have directed Jaune to any number of school resources for learning to control his Semblance. Yet, she decided to personally offer her guidance to him.

Malachor

  • After Jaune wakes up in the hospital, his immediate concern is seeing his friends and making sure they're okay.
  • The Group Hug that Pyrrha, Nora, and Ren give Jaune at the end of the chapter.

Dance

  • Pyrrha's You Are Better Than You Think speech to Jaune after he breaks down into tears following his discovery that he accidentally mind-tricked Weiss. This is followed by Jaune thanking Pyrrha for always being there for him and then the two give each other a tight hug.

Destiny

  • Qrow snarkily referring to Jaune as an "attack dog" immediately gets him glares from both Pyrrha and Glynda.
  • When Pyrrha asks Jaune if he believes in destiny, unlike in canon, she reveals that she has chosen saving Jaune over receiving the Fall Maiden's powers.
Pyrrha: I used to think that destiny wasn't a kind of inescapable fate, but rather a final goal that one worked to their whole life. But recently, I've started to see destiny in a way similar to you. So many things have been happening, falling into place in such a way that there's no way it can be just luck or coincidence. I used to think it was my destiny to become a huntress. To protect the world. But for a little while now, I haven't cared about that goal. I have a new goal. To save you...
  • Even after learning that Jaune attacked Pyrrha, when Jaune screams in pain while transforming into Nihilus, Ruby's first instinct isn't to run away in terror like everyone else. Rather she tries to move closer towards Jaune to help him and Qrow has to physically hold her back from getting too close.

Chaos

  • When Ruby and Pyrrha finally make their way to Beacon Tower and meet up with their fellow students and teachers, the first thing Glynda does is visually check them over for any serious wounds.

Death

  • It turns out that Winter chose to remain in Vale longer than she planned after Weiss told her about what happened between herself and Jaune during the Beacon Dance.
  • Qrow spending his dying moments with Ironwood watching over him is this mixed with tearjerker. Despite spending much of their time together arguing, it's shown that deep down they still care for each other.
    • Ironwood immediately calls in an emergency team upon seeing the extent of Qrow's injuries and tries to assure him that everything will be okay.
    • Even as he lays dying, the first thing that comes to Qrow's mind is keeping his niece Ruby safe. Remembering how Nihilus destroyed Crescent Rose, he entrusts Ironwood with the task of passing down Harbinger to Ruby.
    • The last thing Qrow does in his dying moments is to tell Ironwood that despite their differences he always considered him a good friend.

Vengeance

  • Even after everything Jaune has done under Nihilus' control, Pyrrha still holds onto the hope that he can be saved. One of the last things she says to Ren before he leaves is to promise that she will do everything she can to free Jaune from Nihilus' possession.

Epilogue

  • During his cover-up of the Fall of Beacon, Ozpin ensured Jaune would be remembered as a hero by publicly dismissing the footage of Jaune's transformation into Nihilus as being faked and spinning a narrative that portrays Jaune as a student who gave his life in the defense of his school.
  • Winter mentions how she plans to remain by Weiss' side and help her younger sister make a full recovery after Dr. Polendina finishes implanting her new eyes.
  • While debating how to break the news of Jaune's death to his parents, Glynda convinces Ozpin to tell the Arc family the truth since they deserve to know what actually happened to their son.
  • As part of his cover-up, Ozpin publicly exonerates Jaune of Nihilus' actions and ensures that the public will remember him as a hero. While Jaune may be dead, he at least posthumously fulfilled his dream of being a hero.
  • When Kol sees how Cade is sweating profusely from the Wound in the Force he just sensed, he can barely restrain himself from running over to hug his son and check that he's okay, with the reminder of the Jedi's rules against attachments only stopping him at the last second.
  • The fact that the Jedi have sensed the wound in the Force created by Nihilus's ressurection, and are on their way to Remnant, can be seen as this. Even though things have gotten dark with so many having died, Salem aware of Nihilus's existence, and the One Sith searching for the disturbance in the Force, the Light still exists, and help is on the way.
