Heartwarming / Great Teacher Onizuka

Go To

  • When Onizuka isn't fooling around, he's busy warming people's hearts, may they be his students, colleagues, friends, or complete strangers.
  • During the Okinawa arc of the anime, Noboru saves the girl who made his life hell over the last few years, TWICE. Once by diving down the hole to prevent her from drowning, and then preventing her from getting sandwiched by a jet of water in the cave. And why did he save her? "Because it was the right thing to do".
  • One of the best Crowning Heartwarming Moments of all time happens in episode 11 of the anime, where Tomoko delivers a soliloquy on friendship. If you don't feel anything after hearing her speech, quite frankly you're dead inside.
  • Noboro and Anko during their time in the cave.
  • When he's in the hospital in Okinawa, Uchiyamada thinks back on his long teaching career, devolving into a Grumpy Old Man rant for much of the chapter... and then a student brings him some flowers and tells him how he changed her life for the better (and the nurse tells him she actually gave her blood for his transfusion). He realizes that his paranoia is helping nobody, least of all him, and resolves to regain the youthful optimism for teaching that he once had. This is the point at which he starts becoming a sympathetic character.
  • When Onizuka brings Miyabi to Tomoko's apartment and Tomoko offers her old friend unconditional love and support, regardless of how Miyabi treated her in the past.
  • The picture that Urumi put behind a massive firewall was a picture of a young Miyabi, Tomoko and Urumi as friends.
  • After Miyabi revealed to her classmates that she had framed their former teacher for sexual harassment and unintentionally started their hate for all teachers and was rushed to the hospital after a fall, Onizuka (who ended up in the hospital with her) brings her outside where everyone in her class was sleeping to make sure she was all right.
  • When Tomoko plays house after school and is all lonely and sad, and Onizuka joins her with his own character like it's nothing.
  • The "Onizuka's Women" section in volume 4 has Onizuka's opinion on Azusa, Murai's mother, Naoko and Mrs. Sakurai. Onizuka's speech on the first 3 are Onizuka being Onizuka...and then we get this from his opinion of Mrs. Sakurai:
"I wouldn't say she's hot but I gotta give Mrs. Sakurai her props. When my chips were down she gave me a chance to be a teacher, even if it was a temporary position. And she's stepped into my corner every time someone's tried to get me fired. I owe her so much. So, all she has to do is ask."
  • Am I the only one who liked Shinomi and Urumi bonding and talking about their one side love for Onizuka? Realising they're not so different after all.
