Heartwarming / Duran And Kiyohime's Omake Theater

Go To

  • In Chapter 10, Natuski, being treated to a romantic evening courtesy of Shizuru, begins to feel like she's become a case of All Take and No Give, and decides to rectify this by giving Shizuru a kiss that is symbolic of their promise to each other.
  • In Chapter 50, Shizuru has been in a bad mood for the better part of a week, over a mistake she'd made. She realized that she was needlessly snapping at Natsuki, and even Duran and Kiyohime were avoiding her. So, she comes home with the full intent of apologizing, only to find that Natsuki, understanding that it wasn't her that Shizuru was angry at, had gone out of her way to pick up and prepare a pleasant dinner so that the two of them could talk about what was bothering Shizuru.
    • As it turns out, the thing that started it all was that Shizuru had skipped a class due to spending time with Natsuki, and thus missed an announcement about a deadline being moved up. She discussed it with the professor, who said he would accept it late, but deduct 10 points from her grade. This meant that Haruka would take the top spot in the class rankings and Shizuru was dreading hearing it from Haruka. But, in a rare moment of Shizuru being gracious to Haruka, she said she believed that Haruka simply used Shizuru as a standard to hold herself to, rather than having their one-sided Rivalry be a result of It's Personal mentality.
  • Chapter 91. Nao brings Natsuki food, and correctly guesses that Natsuki staying late after school to do paperwork for the Executive Committee is because Natsuki and Shizuru had a fight. Nao actually shows some insight by pointing out that it wasn't a contest to see who would go back to the other first and apologize, that one of them had to be the adult and it might as well be Natsuki. Natsuki considers her words, then reads the fortune from her fortune cookie. She immediately packs up to head home. The fortune? "Don't wait for your ship to come in. Swim out to it."
  • In Chapter 92, Shizuru comes home to find Natsuki trying to send her off on a Snipe Hunt, and being evasive about it, until Kiyohime comes to the door carrying a wad of notebook paper. Shizuru, to Natsuki's dismay, opens it and reads it, discovering it was a love note. Natsuki gets upset, saying that romantic gestures come easily to Shizuru, but she wants to put in the effort, too, but can't seem to even say "I love you" without messing it up. Shizuru points out, holding back Tender Tears of her own, that Natsuki just said it without messing it up.
Shizuru: And now, I am going to go into the living room, uncrumple every ball of paper, and get to see for myself how hard Natsuki has been working to put her feelings into words for me.
  • For Natsuki and Shizuru's first Valentine's Day as a couple, Natsuki goes well outside of her own comfort zone, arranging for a horse and buggy ride for the two of them through the park.
  • For their second Valentine's Day, Shizuru is wondering what she should do to reciprocate, when Reito helpfully points out that Shizuru is looking at the problem in the wrong way. Natsuki's gesture the previous year was her boldly declaring her love. Shizuru didn't need to do that, and "taking turns" wasn't the proper response either. Instead, what Shizuru needed was to find something that they could do as a couple. The pair end up taking a class on making chocolates so that they can present them to each other. The fact that Kiyohime is the one teaching the class is somewhat adorable, as well.
  • Chapter 127, Shizuru is in the middle of a weeklong project and is physically and emotionally drained. She comes home to find Natsuki has picked up dinner and put on a kimono to greet her. After they finish dinner, Natsuki reveals that she's wearing lingerie under her kimono. Shizuru doesn't fail to take the hint.
