Heartwarming / Dodger And Company

Go To

  • Basically any moment between Dodger and Oliver having fun, which just shows their "big brother-little brother" dynamic and how much they love and care for each other.
    • Dodger continues to refer to Oliver as "kid", even when he becomes a father to Adena's kittens at the end of the story, with Dodger stating, "I'll still call you kid till I'm dead and gone."
  • While it's undeniably heartbreaking, Dodger reconciling with Annie before she succumbs to her injuries counts.
  • Aside from Jenny, Dodger quickly bonds with Mr. Foxworth, Jenny's father, and it's as sweet as you'd think, especially when the two bond over the love of the LA Dodgers.
    • Even more heartwarming; it's stated that Mr. Foxworth wanted a dog when he was a young boy, but couldn't afford one due to growing up in a rough Brooklyn neighborhood, and now, as an adult, his wish has been granted.
  • When Rita breaks down feeling guilty that she thinks her being too strict drove Annie's youngest son Billy to run away from home and turn to Dodger's ex-best friend Noah for support, Charlie reassures her, telling her that even though the pups are now teenagers, that doesn't diminish their love for her, and she's doing a great job.
  • Even after the failed robbery and Fagin not exactly being in his good books, Mr. Foxworth still takes it on himself to call the police and come to the apartment to save him from Sykes's gangster friend, proving he recognized the man as a hero for saving Jenny's life.
  • Dodger and Nancy becoming parents. The joy they feel is palpable, and shows that even though they didn't have the best start in life, both Dodger and Nancy can be loving, caring parents.
    • Even better, Dodger names one of his puppies Annie, as a tribute to his late mother.
  • Nancy and Dodger's reunion with their pups when their respective owners pay a visit. You can almost hear the excitement in their voices as they tell her about their new lives.
  • Fagin landing himself a job at Mr. Foxworth's company, and later at a dog shelter called Foxworth House; after all the poor man has gone through scraping to get by, and dealing with thuggish gangsters, it's heartwarming to see.
  • In the story's penultimate chapter, the gang have settled into a new home on Staten Island, and Francis and Tito are watching TV. Tito sees a painting that reminds him of his old home in Mexico, and he and Francis have a long conversation about wanting to travel there. This moment shows despite the fact that these two bicker, they still love each other.
