• 19 months after signing her WWE contract, Candice finally made her NXT Takeover debut at the 2019 Takeover: Toronto against Io Shirai in the sole non-title match on the card, and Candice was nervous as hell. Lasting fifteen minutes against Io, she showed everyone she's far more than "Mrs. Gargano". Tegan Nox (the former Nixon Newell) was backstage to watch, and Nox was in happy tears by the end of the match.
• The NXT after Dakota Kai’s Face–Heel Turn and attack on Tegan Nox, Candice swore revenge for Tegan, whom she saw as a sister, in their match that night. She stated Kai wasn't going to be facing her as a friend, but rather as Nox's pissed-off big sister.
