"Just look how well you've grown..."
Despite what the series may seem like at a surface-level glance, the horror element of this "analog horror" series is actually very much subverted. Angel Hare is an emotional rollercoaster with many delicate scenes that pull at its audience's heartstrings.

  • As disturbing as Angel Gabby can be, she does genuinely care for Jonah's wellbeing, acting as a sort of older sister figure to Jonah who single-handedly helped him cope with his abusive domestic life as best as she could.
    • In the first episode, the very first thing that she says to Jonah is how much she hopes she can be a good friend to him. The same episode also has the two of them forming a strong bond, with Jonah sharing his interests with Gabby, including his favorite storybook. Following this, Gabby assures to Jonah that he can still live the life he wants to despite all of the hardships he is facing back at home.
    • At the end of Tape 6, she's very happy to see Jonah again, all grown up.
  • One should admire Jonah, Francis and Zagzagel's efforts to find Gabby in season 2. Despite initially distrusting each other, they join forces to achieve a common goal.
  • A small moment: Zag is generally colder and less nurturing than Gabby, especially towards Jonah. However, in the season 2 finale, Jonah, feeling like he's done nothing but make things difficult for Gabby, tells her to erase his memory so he won't trouble her any more. This prospect alarms and concerns Zag, who instantly tries to argue against it. It's nice to see that despite his gruff attitude, he is still thinking of Jonah's happiness.
    • In addition, he clearly does care for Gabby; when he finds her his voice grows more worried and he affectionately calls her "kid."
  • The reason why Gabby disappeared in season 2 is that she has stretched herself too thin trying to help all the troubled kids calling to her through the internet. After she's rescued, Jonah becomes her "guy on the outside", helping her reach everyone who needs her help.
Gabby: Would it bother you, Jonah...? If I'm not the perfect guardian you remember? If things didn't stay the way they were, and... I needed you, too?
Jonah: You were never perfect. You were just there for me.
  • The theme song is particularly heartfelt, being about Gabby coming to aid and nurture distressed children:
Feathers all around me. Holy Lights above. Could it be an angel's wings? Could it be her LOVE? Help me! Help me, Angel Hare! Don't leave me here, on my own! Save me! Save me, Angel Hare! When I'm in danger, visit my home. Precious Defender, please visit my home!
  • The second mixtape shows Gabby, Francis, Zag, and Francine playing cards together. After all the trouble in season 2, it's nice to see them all just hang out and relax.
