Obsidian

• The brief montage of Marceline and Princess Bubblegum living together and doing domestic activities like baking a pie and building furniture. It shows just how far the two have come in repairing their relationship.
• Marceline figuring out why she is having a hard time writing new songs; all her previous songs were mostly about how miserable and sad she was, and right now she's just happy.
• When on their way to the Glass Kingdom, Marceline reveals that she used to live in the desert that's on the way there and Bubblegum asks when that was. Marceline says she doesn't wanna talk about it and Bubblegum doesn't push it any further, respecting her boundaries. She lightly teases her about it but that's as far as she takes it.
  Bubblegum: Oh-ho, so mysterious all the time. Just like your songs.
• Before Singing their Break Up Song Again Marceline asks Bonnie if she’s okay with hearing it again, and was about the reassure her that she doesn’t mean all the stuff she said in the song anymore before Glassboy interrupts her.
• "Monster" is THE song of Heartwarming.
• Simon arrives after Larvo is dealt with alongside the cavalry, made up of Finn, Bronwyn, and a heap of Banana Guards. When asked by STP, Bonnie says that they're her friends, and that she's proud of them.
• The last shot of "Obsidian" showing Marceline giving her rock shirt to Princess Bubblegum; a gesture that leaves PB visibly lovestruck.

Together Again

"Together Again," while sad, does have its moments

• Finn's first thought upon realizing that he's dead? Joy that he gets to see Jake again
• While seeing several of the characters dead in the afterlife is pretty sad, seeing many of them have more peaceful and happier experiences in the afterlife does soften this up a fair bit. The Ghost Princess and Clarence together in the 50th Dead World, in particular, is very tranquil to see, after all the hardships they’ve endured.
• Tiffany is generally a lot friendlier with Finn in this special, even if he retains his hot-bloodedness towards him. He shares Finn's longing for Jake, brings Finn into New Death's castle so they can hang out, and once Finn aligns himself against New Death in his search for Jake, Tiffany outright says he's going to eat away his feelings in the Pizza Dead World. He acts less like an enemy and more like a brother, fitting his adoption at the hands of Joshua and Margaret quite literally making him Finn and Jake's brother.
• Whilst everybody else in the first Dead World jumps onto Finn out of the belief that he'll save them, Choose Goose tells him to stay back. Even if he's suffering like the others in the first Dead World, he only wants the best for Finn.
• Finn finally reuniting with Jake and tearfully embracing him after spending his entire life missing his brother. It's even more heartwarming considering it was enough for Finn to recover from his Heroic BSoD after Joshua and Margaret were (seemingly) Deader than Dead.
• Tiffany getting adopted by Joshua and Margaret. His touched expression at the gesture shows that beneath his obsession with Jake and resentment towards Finn, Tiffany was just a misguided kid who only really wanted someone to care about him.
• The final scene where Jake willingly gives up eternal bliss in the 50th Dead World to go get reincarnated alongside Finn, so they can live yet another lifetime as best friends. The episode even closes with the two sharing one last fist bump before their next life. It all goes to show what the audience already knew: Finn and Jake have an unbreakable bond that stretches far beyond their own lifetime.

  Finn: (smiling) Wonder what Life's gonna turn me into this time...
  (A teary-eyed and smiling Jake grabs Finn's left wrist)
  Finn: (shocked) Jake?! What are you doing?! I just had my donkin' epiphany!
  Jake: I know. I just come back for fun, because it's great being alive with you...
  (Finn is so moved tears form in his eyes, but they clear up as he smiles)
  Finn: *sniff* Ha ha ha ha... Good reason.
