Why did humanity built the robots to be powered by blood?

It doesn’t even make sense in logical terms, blood can’t generate the enough amount of energy to make machines of their size to move. In terms of warfare it is understandable to maximize the casualties in the battlefield but this shouldn’t be possible in a scientific perspective.
  • It is actually confirmed by Word of God that the Machines have organic components inside them and that need blood to make those organs work. There is also the fact that something may have influenced humanity to make the Machines the way they are.
  • Blood seems to be disproportionately effective at animating Machines compared to any other fuel source. Since blood in the Ultrakill universe is of a divine origin, being the dew and nectar of the Tree of Life itself, it's not unreasonable to think that what powers Machines is mystical in nature—in short, Machines are an application of Sufficiently Analyzed Blood Magic.
  • A Fridge Horror explanation: What with all resources being devoted to the war effort and/or destroyed by fighting, perhaps blood was simply the only thing Humanity had in abundance.

Why did King Minos decided to reform the Lust Layer specifically?

It is mentioned that King Minos, former Judge of Hell, decided to reform the Lust Layer after the disappearance of God, which made the Angels start looking elsewhere. Minos' motivations are that he finds eternal damnation as a deeply unfair punishment for simply loving another person, except that the people who were punished in Lust are there for letting their emotions wreck the lives of others for their own selfish pleasure. They were not there for loving one another; they were there for looking without consideration for one another in favor of their unrestrained pleasure.
  • It is revealed later that when God disappeared, a Council of Angels was formed and they were the heads of Heaven until God returned. Since the Council is a deeply corrupt group of angels, it is most likely that they sent people who really just loved each other to Lust. Minos, as the Judge of Hell back then, knew what the sinners did in their past lives and he thought it was very unfair to accuse and punish people who loved each other of Lust.

What was the purpose of the Mindflayer?

The Streetcleaner was made to clean the pollution of the streets after the Great War, the Swordsmachines modified themselves to maximize their efficiency in the sword, and the Sentries are, well, sentries. But nothing of the name suggests the original purpose of the Mindflayer. Maybe they were designed to extract intel from enemy soldiers?
  • Having some kind of Psychic Powers as part of their base design could explain how they can channel Hell energy so effectively, despite there being no indication that they have scavenged anything aside from their plastic shells.

Why have V1 destroy an Earthmover?

A secret book you can find in the Earthmover's city implies that Hell itself admires the Earthmovers and their destructive power, yet it seemingly assists V1 by immobilizing one with the red trees from 7-3 so they can destroy it. Is it purely to see more of V1's carnage?
  • Given the implication that V1 was constructed to destroy the Earthmovers, I think Hell was giving it a chance to fulfil a purpose it never got to achieve in the actual war.
