Headscratchers / Space Mutiny

  • Why would Lea know all her father's countermeasures? As far as we know, she's just some kind of horticulturist so I don't think he would tell her such things.
    • More so, if MacPherson knows all the countermeasures already, why were they torturing her to get said countermeasures?
      • Perhaps the enforcers thought Captain Santa Claus made some modifications to said countermeasures. They don't have access to the bridge, and Ryder just came onboard. If there's anyone who'd know, it would be the one person CSC would want to protect above all else.
  • Instead of using intercom why did Codell not just go to the bridge in the first place and reduce the risk of being intercepted before he could warn the bridge of strange goings-on?
    • He thought it was someone acting alone instead of a mutiny by the Enforcers.
  • Why does a ship as huge as the Southern Sun have only one docking bay?
  • Captain Santa Claus mentioned letting everyone else know "in due course" about Kalgan's treachery. If they were aware and convinced of his guilt, why were they just letting him wander the ship? Why not go ahead and bring him in?
  • Why do the people of the Southern Sun force the Bellarians to stay in that one cargo hold, rather than just letting them mingle with the rest of the ship? Relatedly, why is Kalgan so outraged when he finds out some of the Enforcers visited the Bellarians (to the point that he orders them frozen)?
  • If Kalgan is tired of living on the Southern Sun, why didn't he just leave? This would make more sense if they were on a real Generation Ship, traveling through empty space on their way to an uncertain destination. But it's pretty clear there's other inhabitated worlds all over the place. Why couldn't Kalgan just go to one of those?
  • Why does the Southern Sun fly right near Corona Borealis if it's peopled by Space Pirates? Even if it weren't for Kalgan's meddling, it seems like Tempting Fate to go that close, and there isn't really any reason they'd have to since space is really freakin' big (let's say they have to make a detour of a billion miles to avoid flying near it, that would still be less than 1/5000 of a light year, and it's implied their voyage is dozens or hundreds of light years long.)
