Headscratchers / Sleepwalkers

  • From the opening scene and the climax, we know Mary can handle a few cats if she needs to. One assumes this applied to Charles as well. So why did they act constantly terrified every time they saw a cat? It's like someone who can kill snakes with their bare hands panicking at every hiss.
    • Cats actively hunt Sleepwalkers, so if you see one cat, there's probably more on the way.

  • Was the seduction of Tanya a necessary part of the "consume the souls of virgins" process? If not, why not just grab a virgin as soon as they can confirm and leave as soon as they've "fed"? If nothing else, every day they stay brings more and more deadly (to them) cats to surround them?
    • Considering the importance placed on Tanya being a 'nice girl', it may be that the seduction is part of the feeding process to basically 'tenderise' their food and prepare Tanya to be consumed.

  • For that matter: How were Mary and Charles able to leave their farmhouse as much as they did, surrounded as it was by cats, and come and go unscathed?
    • The original script has animal control pick up the cats when the police first go to the farmhouse. They are gone when Mary goes to kidnap Tanya, although they are back when Mary returns.
