Metal Armor and Buoyancy
- Would Marius really be able to tread water wearing that much metal armor? Shouldn't he have sunk?
- Not necessarily. Lorica Segmentata, the armor depicted, usually weighed no more than 20 pounds. That aside, Roman legionaries were kept in good shape by their training, and often used heavier gear when training than they did when fighting.
