• Why was Astro's original name "Atom" kept in the localization?
  • It's not just Astro Boy; ALL characters were reverted to their original names rather than keeping previous dub names, including Gesicht (Gerhardt), Epsilon (Photar) and so on. As to why they did it? Probably saw no reason to stick to localized names since this manga is aimed at adults rather than kids who would have trouble pronouncing foreign names. Might also be a phenomenon similar to Comic-Book Movies Don't Use Codenames (easier to take seriously if the characters have no silly names like "Photar").
