So is the school board just ok with Arama Academy's... condition?
Arama is heavily implied to be a private school, so school board red tape isn't as much of an issue. Also, a few episodes show that individual parents AREN'T okay with it, and an angry mom threatening to pull one of the named boys out of school is the focus of an episode.
Why isn't miss Machiko called Miss Mai if "Machiko" is her first name?
A few tertiary one-shot characters do call her that. As for everyone else, well, the Principal was the one who broke protocol in the first episode which made it okay for everyone else, even the uptight vice-principal.
Also worth noting that Miss Machiko's classroom does not use the standard Japanese designation of Grade+Number/Letter, but is instead promptly named "Machiko Class"
How come the show's animation is far less choppy and stiff than others of the time, and even some long runners nowadays despite having 95 episodes?
