  • In the two-part Series Finale, the Mandarin plans to kidnap the members of Force Works so that he can use their superhuman energies to power the Heart of Darkness. Despite specifying that he plans to feed the device superhuman energy, he still tries to use War Machine (a normal guy in a suit of Powered Armor) and Hawkeye (an expert marksman who has an arsenal of Trick Arrows, but no actual superpowers) as living batteries. Bafflingly, he later does the same thing by including Blizzard and Blacklash when he decides to use his own lackeys to power the Heart.
    • This may be an Ass Pull, but maybe the Mandarin really meant people with exceptional willpower, courage and/or ambition, which would make their souls more powerful than the norm? Warriors like Jim Rhodes, Clint Barton, and even Mark Scarlotti (Blacklash) would fit that description. And perhaps the creators didn't want to push the envelope too much by stating right out that Mandy is stealing people's lifeforces...
