- How is Chucky able to drink seeing as he doesn´t seem to be turning human as he did in the original movies? How much of him is artificial (doll) and how much organic? Can he also eat?
- While those questions may get answered down the road, in the case of the pilot he might have just held the booze in his mouth until he...released it.
- The series has predominantly dropped the (physically) turning human element after the first film. Whereas Chucky used to slowly physically turn human over the course of the first movie, in subsequent films it is more of a time thing. The extent seems to vary as Chucky and Tiffany clearly have blood and human organs inside of them, but we have seen Chucky survive things that would kill a human like getting decapitated, and walk away. So it’s possible he just held the liquor in his stomach and projectile vomited. Which some people can do in real life.
- He's been rebuilt and is using different dolls over the course of the series. It is likely most of the original rules don't still apply. We don't know the full extent of what the spell he's been using since the last two movies can do.
- Chucky's doll-possession has always been depicted as a feat of Hollywood Voodoo. Alcohol consumption plays an important role in voudoun, both in real life and popular depictions, so perhaps a capacity to imbibe comes as part of the package when you use it to body-surf.
- How does Jake live in Charles Lee Ray's hometown, listen to true crime podcasts, and mention Charles Lee Ray in the opening narration, but not know of Chucky? Previous movies established the story was well known enough to negatively impact Good Guy sales after the first two movies, and was brought up as recently as Nica's case less than 10 years earlier. Even if he didn't believe it, he should have heard the rumors at some point.
- Anything about Charles Lee Ray is probably only focusing on what he actually did in real life. Not rumors about a doll killing people that occurred after he died. The toy company covered up most of the story. So Chucky is considered an urban legend. And not a very well known one seeing as how even people never reference the killings when they encounter the doll. Jake may have heard of Charles Lee Ray, but probably doesn’t know him as “Chucky” since he was called the Lakeshore Strangler.
- He very easily found stories of Chucky from the previous movies with a simple Google search. It's unlikely anything made about Charles Lee Ray in the past 30+ years wouldn't have at least mentioned the rumors as part of his legacy, even if dismissing them as false.
- Also, assuming the movies take place in the years they're released, the Good Guys line has been dead for 30 years. Even rumors fade with time.
- The creators said its shortly after Cult. And even if rumors fade, that should be well known in the killer's hometown, especially being brought back into the public eye with Nica's case in 2013. And any podcast would do enough research to mention the rumors.
- Nica was shipped off to an asylum and probably forgotten about, with maybe a handful of people even aware she was alive, let alone her fate. The point is, this world is so heavily set in reality that the idea of a killer doll is preposterous (as seen in...every single one of the movies), with the decades of rumors immediately written off as bunk and quickly forgotten.
- It seems that the rumors would at least get a cursory mention in any seriously-researched piece, even if they were dismissed out of hand and treated as apocryphal (in the same sense that, e.g., the crash of Eastern Airlines Flight 401
is not usually mentioned without bringing up the rumors of hauntings on planes supposedly reusing parts from the downed jet in our world). Bellisario's Maxim probably applies here, though. Even if he was aware of the rumors, maybe Devon in particular thought it was unethical to sensationalize the case by bringing up what he regards as false stories that might emotionally torment the surviving friends and family of Charles Lee Ray's victims from when he was still human (and Jake would probably be unlikely to know Charles Lee Ray's past in much detail from any source other than Devon's podcast before doing a Google search about it himself). - From the first season it does appear Devon knew of Charles Lee Ray but not about the alleged urban legend of the Chucky Doll until the events of the series itself. The maxim to apply here is more akin to not trusting everyone claiming to be an authority on something has actually fully done their research on the subject they are running off the mouth about. Though in Devon's defense he's an 8th grader doing research for a secondary hobby podcast. His mistake is more of accidental ignorance rather than outright laziness or manipulation.
- If Tiffany truly resented Chucky at that point, why would she continue to carry out his plan of mass-distributing his Hive Mind bodies?
- She's Tiffany. She's mad now but will probably forgive and forget later for one of the various other Chuckys.
- Are we correct assuming that while the old spell was simply soul goes from a into b, this new spell basically splits the soul to become a new entity with the the memories from up until the split? While not directly stated this would explain why the Chucky we've been following in Hackensack would be asking questions to the Chucky that's in Nica. And why the newly activated Chuckys remember the events of the series given they weren't split off until after Junior's murder of his father.
- Relating to the above should we assume Chucky learned the split spell before, during or after his possession of Alice?
- After. Alice's body was still alive when the doll was sent to Andy at the end of Curse.
- Is the Chucky we are following in Hackensack the other one that survived the previous movie? And if so where did the one in South Carolina come from?
- As other commentators have pointed out, why did Junior have no obvious reaction to seeing that Tiffany (i.e., the woman he assumes his dad had an affair with in the previous episode, motivating him to murder his father) was affiliated with Chucky in the first season's finale? It was never established as a reason for his last-second Heel–Face Turn later on (which seemed more due to his lingering affection for Lexy), so it seems like it can only be explained as a fleeting case of The Dark Side Will Make You Forget taken to arguably ridiculous extremes.
- Additionally, why did Junior never seem to "put two and two together" and realize that Chucky was the one who killed his mother (Bree) in the first place (catalyzing his own Start of Darkness), or if he did, why was it not made more obvious that this motivation may have also majorly contributed to him ultimately turning against Chucky?
- Bluntly because Junior is a beta who doesn't do much thinking for himself? Throughout the series we see he's been a doll for his father's revisiting his youth fantasies. His girlfriend is the one in clear command and gets what she wants. Then Chucky convinced him to become his apprentice on ridiculously flimsy reasoning. As much as he gave to Jake, Junior was very much a total doormat of a person.
- Is Tiffany being the one who called Mike Norris on Charles in 1988 a Continuity Snarl? Didn't Curse of Chucky establish that it was Nica's mother who called the police? I have rewatched the scene from Curse, and if Tiffany is the one who called the police and not Nica's mother, she should've acted surprised or protest against Charles when he gets furious at her, instead she doesn't deny anything which makes this "reveal" a bit confusing.
- It's possible that she was just so relieved that the police were there to save her and put Charles away that she didn't feel the need to deny his accusations. Then again, rewatching the scene, it does seem like Sarah is trying to stall for time (though she could just be worried about what Charles might do to Barb).
- Hopefully Season 2 explains this a little better because the whole reason Chucky is so furious and determined to make Nica suffer is because he blames her for everything that happened in 1988 since her mom called the police on him. I already wasn't very plussed at how the reveal that Tiffany did it was kinda handled like a Played for Laughs Evil Is Petty moment. If it'll turn out Nica and her family suffered for something they didn't actually do to him, at least I wish it can be taken seriously.
- Given so much of Season 1 was flashbacks, it seems safe to assume there is more to this to come. However Chucky was still mad at Nica's family just for her mother's rejection alone. I don't think they'd be spared just because she didn't call the cops.
- As far as it being a Continuity Snarl, it appears this is the opposite of trying to establish how the various pieces we've heard actually fit together from previous Continuity Snarl. As we have the scene with Sarah from Curse, Tiffany's story from Bride and the original scene with the chase from Norris to Eddie speeding away in the car to mix all into one narrative.
- Also for that matter what order of places does Charles go after he storms out of the apartment he shared with Tiffany? In the original film the apartment he has doesn't look like the flashback one. Does he go other places before going to Sarah? Where exactly is Sarah stashed? Does going to meet up with Eddie fit in there? Does Mike Norris only just arrive when Charles is with Sarah (implying Tiffany knew where Sarah was) or has he been tailing him before hand (implying Tiffany didn't know about Sarah)? And what we see in Curse and Child's Play is once he actively decides to go in to arrest him?
- When Chucky unsuccessfully goads Jake to push Lexy off her burned house's second floor so Chucky can finish her off upon falling, leading Jake to rescue Lexy, why doesn't Chucky run upstairs to push off or kill Lexy himself if he is so desperate to get her killed?
- Chucky's goal is explicitly to get one of the kids (an innocent) to murder somebody. Once Jake refuses to kill Lexy, there's no sense Chucky killing her himself, and by leaving her alive he's able to later try to goad Lexy into killing Jake in return, as well as tempting Caroline into killing Lexy along with their parents.
- Why does Tiffany prefer to have Nica over Chucky? Nica would never reciprocate her feelings especially after she cut off her limbs. Tiffany just has a hostage full of fear and hatred which wont give her better treatment than Chucky has given her.
- Tiffany is crazy! Just like Joe Goldberg from You, she created an entire narrative based on the fact that she thought she saw Nica looking at her romantically. She genuinely believes that Nica loves her and that narrative supercedes reality. To be fair, Nica did play along and pretend to be Chucky, so that might contribute to part of the idea that Nica wanted her, but the narrative of "Nica loves me," is better than living with actual abuser Chucky. With four fucked up amputations, she made Nica's body unpalatable to Chucky and made Nica completely dependent on her, so now they'll have relationship with some sort of reciprocity, because if she doesn't do what Tiffany wants she's going to die from thirst or starvation.
- Why is Glenda suddenly empathetic when they are supposed to be the violent one due to killing Joan in seed of Chucky and presumably the detective in Bride of Chucky.
- Was Scout Chucky ever actually brainwashed, or was he just pretending? If he was pretending, what was his goal, considering that "Good Chucky's" actions at times seemed to go against what Mixter and the General were planning. But if he was genuinely brainwashed, why did it wear off, and so quickly, and could they/should they have reinforced the brainwashing to keep him good somehow? Seems like they missed a chance to really explore the idea of a good Chucky and the implications by rushing through his arc so quickly
- If Jennifer Tilly was still alive inside the first Wedding Belle doll that Tiffany vacated in 2004 (i.e., her Soul Jar between Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky before transferring to Tilly's body), and Tiffany (in Tilly's original body) was leaving the Jen-possessed doll uncaged at the time, why did Jen conceal her presence from Fulvia the nanny (before she was murdered) or anyone else in the latter of those two films rather than attempting to get their attention, or else find some other means to contact her sister Meg or others that might be able to help extricate her from her circumstances?
- Wouldnt the White House have security cameras in almost every room, therefore making it harder for Chucky to get away with the murders since they would be caught on film (he could have disabled them, but we never see him doing it)?
