Headscratchers / Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons

Go To

  • After the attack on the Mysteron base, we see the human Captain Black, then not long after the camera cuts away and returns with his usual Mysteronised face. Every time we have seen someone Mysteronised, they are killed and duplicated, but here Black appears to retain his original body and be converted without being killed. Is this due to the proximity to the Mysteron base? Is it because they want to maintain his original consciousness, keeping him conscious but unable to act, as punishment for being the instigator of the conflict?
    • At least one of the tie-in novels, Captain Scarlet and the Silent Saboteur, depicts the Mysterons as capable of reanimating people that have been killed as well, so it's likely not an issue of proximity and the duplication angle is likely taken for the same reason in-universe and out; that it's more dramatic.
  • In the opening episode, what is the point of the London Car-Vue? It's a parking lot at the top of a very tall tower, with a spiral ramp up which the cars have to drive. Why not just place the parking area on the ground?
    • It’s not a parking structure. It’s an elevated viewing platform reached by car; there’s at least one similar structure in the real world, on Vancouver Island.
