• Assuming Tre is 17 and the events in the film took place in 1991, he would have been born in 1973 or 1974. Furious says he and Reva had Tre when they were 17. This makes it hard to provide a timeline for Furious' tour of duty in Vietnam, considering the last U.S. troops left the country in March 1973.
  The timeline isn't super well thought out, but since pregnancy lasts nine months, Tre could have been conceived in 1972 or early 1973, shortly before he shipped out. However, since Tre is somewhat based on writer/director John Singleton, who was 17 in 1983-84, this plot point probably made more sense for the timeline of his own adolescence.
