  • During one search scene in "The Headless Horseman of Halloween", Velma crows that they've cornered the ghost. Shaggy whimpers that he doesn't want him.
  • One episode has the gang using some odds and ends and "Yankee ingenuity" to scale a cliff after crashing into the shore. When Scooby asks what ingenuity is, Shaggy gives this definition:
Shaggy: That's a fancy word, Scoob, for doing it the hard way.
  • "A Highland Fling With a Monstrous Thing" has a surreal gag where Scooby literally runs into an old skeleton hanging from some chains. The skeleton swings and twitches on its chains and then, as Scooby escapes in panic, it hops off and runs away, mirroring Scooby's run.
  • "Scared a Lot in Camelot": Merlin's ghost, who is rather nasty, ends up as the victim of a joke more than once, whether being Hoist by His Own Petard trying to turn Shaggy and Scooby into his evil minions, or being embarrassed when they utterly mess up him and the Black Knight while trying to escape.
  • "A Frightened Hound Meets Demons Underground":
    • Shaggy and Scooby disguise themselves as movie people to hide from the Monster of the Week. When he comes into the room, Shaggy, costumed as a director, treats him as an actor in a movie they're filming, chastising him for being late and ordering him to stand on the mark before he roars. When he does, Shaggy claims it lacks "feeling".
    • The monster takes Daphne away and, when they find her later-
Daphne: That mean old demon stuffed me into this piano!
Shaggy: What a dirty trick. But it could have been worse: At least he didn't stuff you into a harmonica.
  • "The Spirits of '76":
    • The gang finds the wax dummies of Benedict Arnold, Major Andre, and William Demont, wearing only long underwear. Daphne quips that they should dress, because they're in mixed company.
    • Shaggy and Scooby are riding a tandem bicycle, oblivious to one of the ghosts on the back seat. When they believe they've lost him, the ghost taps Scooby's shoulder. He doesn't make any scary faces or sounds; he just sits there grinning. When Shaggy sees, he snaps that he warned Scooby against picking up hitchhikers.
  • "The Creepy Creature of Vulture's Claw" has a bit just after Shaggy and Scooby escape from a crocodile that was chasing them in the sewers:
Fred: Shag! Scooby! What are you two up to?
Shaggy: I'm up to here, Fred! I've had it with creepy mansions, muddy tunnels, secret passages, crocodiles snapping at my heels, and seven-foot insects scaring me half to death!! In fact, I don't think there's anything left that could scare me right now!
    (Mantis is heard growling upstairs)
    Scooby: Who now?
  • "The No Face Zombie Chase Case" has Daphne, Velma and Fred running to get out of the toy factory, only to run right into the Lieutenant, Shaggy and Scooby coming into the factory. The kicker is the titular No-Face Zombie shaking its head as if it can't believe what it just saw.
