Funny / The Man In The Hat

• The film opens up with the Man (who isn't wearing his Hat in this scene) dining outside a cafe. He sees a cat watching him eat and offers it some food, but the cat takes one sniff and walks away.
• As he stands on a bridge and admires the river, the Man's Hat drops off into the water. He rushes to get it (almost as if he knows he's in a movie whose title is based on that one thing), only to find the Damp Man retrieved it for him. The Damp Man gives him an intense look for making him get his presumably expensive boots all wet. When the Man puts his Hat back on, he spills water all over himself.
  • The two men run into each other leter on. As the Man in the Hat sits down to eat some bread, the Damp Man sneezes, causing him to drop it in surprise. Feeling guilty, the Damp Man offers his own lunch to the Man in the Hat, which the latter discovers is so soggy it crumbles when he tries to hold it.
• The Man's car breaks down. Two men in a truck see him and get out to help. We then see their truck towing the car up a steep hill...with the Man in the Hat chasing after them.
• While having a picnic, the Man in the Hat gets a drop of wine on his shirt. rather than dab it out, he decides to cut the patch of cloth out and paints his undershirt a matching colour. Even funnier is that his shirt is a very dark shade of blue, so nobody would have noticed the stain.
• The Man in the Hat parks outside a lecture hall, where the concierge rushes out and pulls him in. He sees a standee depicting a guest lecturer who looks exactly like him and realises he's fallen into a classic gag. The Man is invited to stand on stage, is awarded a crystal basket for the accomplishments of his lookalike and asked to give a speech on a topic he's likely got no experience in. Then the lights blow out, giving him a chance to escape. As the Man exits, he runs into the lecturer, who is not happy to see him abscond with the crystal basket he was rightfully entitled to.
  • During a traffic jam, we see the Man in the Hat using said basket as a bowl for his soup.
