This one-shot special from 1982 is a giggle a page (the story title on the first page splash is "When Titans Chuckle!") and is Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Everyone in the Marvel Universe shows up at a fete to affect a celebrity roast on the Fantastic Four. Written and laid out by Fred Hembeck (who, in self-caricature, is also the roast's master of ceremonies) with finishing art by much of the Marvel's regular staff. To give an idea of the banter during the roast, Spider-Man has this exchange with Johnny:
- Spider-Man: Boy, is it ever hot in here! How 'bout turning off the flame for awhile?
Johnny: Sorry, pal. The fans came here to see the Human Torch. The flame stays on.
Spider-Man: Fine. I roast you, you roast me. Seems fair.
During the ceremonies, an unseen figure is bent on trying to destroy the FF, and The Thing automatically thinks it's Doctor Doom.
- Doctor Doom: WRONG, camel breath!! Doctor Doom, Doctor Doom, Doctor Doom. Why does everyone suspect that Doctor Doom is the culprit?
Johnny: Well, It isn't Soupy Sales, tinhead!
Doctor Doom also gives a Freudian Excuse for the accident which turned him evil: he was upset over not getting invited to a panty raid with Reed and his college buddies.
