Funny: The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
  • Bobby Benson, to Klaatu.
Bobby:I like you Mr. Carpenter, you're a real screwball!
  • Don't you just hate it when you have to repeat yourself, this secretary sure does.
    Secretary: The phone doesn't work.
Mr. Krull: Well then call the phone company.
Secretary: But... the phone doesn't work!
  • Klaatu's response when Mr Harley attempts to give him excuses why he can't address the nations of the world.
Mr Harley: And there are practical considerations, the enormous distance required to travel!
Klaatu: I just travelled 250 million miles!
  • Possibly the most hilarious scene in the whole film is Klaatu (alias 'Mr. Carpenter') calmly eating breakfast with his fellow boarders while a radio commentator waxes hysterical over the 'threat' of the alien.
