Funny / Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee

Go To

  • When Connor learns that Lag failed to train a dingo, he chides him for being overly soft, saying that it's important to be strict as well as kind when training a dingo. He undermines his own point when it turns out that he's carrying his dingo Gus on his back, which Lag notices.
  • Niche declaring that Lag is the only person who can make her wear underwear.
  • When Lag and Niche stay at the hotel in Kyrie, they hear that any pets will be counted as additional residents and charged accordingly. They solve the problem by having Steak bite down on Lag's head and pass himself off as a hat.
  • One of Lag's rival examinees for the Letter Bee position is an Upper-Class Twit named Richard Belzaris BB Becktratus Jr. and he has a dingo with an even more outlandish name- Rubemius Bregiuroa Banjorelo the Second. The latter gets into a fight with Niche, who cuts off his tail with ease, traumatizing Richard so badly that he drops out. It's probably for the best, since he makes Macky look competent.
  • When Lag asks Niche what she'd do if he lost his heart and her memories of her, Niche replies as follows.
Niche: I'd lick you, and bite you, and drop you, and jump on you and scratch you, and drop you!
    Lag: You'd drop me twice?
(Connor, who's driving the carriage, blushes and stifles a snicker)
  • At the end of the letter delivery to Louisa Alcotta, Niche takes off the panties that Sylvette gave her and puts them on Steak instead.
  • In Episode 14, Niche doesn't quite understand what it means when Dr. Thunderland Jr. plans to dissect Steak, so Lag has to spell it out for her.
Lag: It means that Steak might end up steak for real!
  • Also from Episode 14, when Zazie announces his intention of shooting Dr. Thunderland Jr. with his Shindanjuu, Lag objects, before admitting he doesn't really know what shooing a person with a shindan will do. Nevertheless, he whacks Zazie on the head with a "Shooting-People-Is-Not-Allowed Chop."
  • During Gauche and Dr. Thunderland Jr.'s flashback in Episode 14, Gauche casually strolls into Dr. Thunderland's unlocked lab to deliver a letter to him. Yes, Gauche bypassed the pair of extremely sturdy doors with multiple locks, just because Dr. Thunderland forgot to lock the door.
  • In Episode 19, Sylvette goes to buy some medicine for Lag, but finds that someone just bought the last bottle. She then goes on a dangerous errand to obtain the herbs, and nearly sinks into a swamp in the process. At the end of the episode, she sees Zazie and Connor in Lag's room, and finds out that they were the one who bought the last bottle of medicine. She's understandably furious that she ended up risking her life for nothing, and they're utterly confused.
  • In Episode 26, Aria, worried about Lag, dumps several comically huge stacks of paperwork on Largo's desk before going to throw a surprise party for Lag.
  • In Episode 28, Lag, after discovering that Kimidori is the only person who could have made the paint used in the picture postcard, points at her and dramatically yells, "You're the culprit!", comically frightening Kimidori.
  • At the end of Episode 28, Lag decides to make a picture postcard for Gauche. Unfortunately, he's a Terrible Artist, and so makes a picture of Gauche that has a head larger than his body, is firing a Kurobari out of a poorly drawn Shindanjuu, and is accompanied by what's supposed to look like Roda. Sylvette is unimpressed.
  • In Episode 30, Hazel Valentine seizes Wasiolka in a wrestling move, slams her into the ground, then gives her a hug. Zazie is reduced to Angrish as a result.
  • In the Blue Notes Blues arc, the first thing Lag has to say to Niche's older sister, after introducing himself and explaining his relationship with Niche, is to ask her to put some clothes on.
  • When Niche's sister admits that the rumors of a spring that lets the drinker live for 1,000 years were completely false, she turns to the camera, away from Lag, and makes a rather comedic expression. Lag notes that this is one thing Niche has in common with her sister.
  • After Lag dresses up as a girl to infiltrate the Abbey, Connor notices that it looks remarkably good on him.
  • When Connor asks where Lag's gone, Zazie refuses to tell Connor that Lag's infiltrating the abbey, worried that Connor would insist on coming along.
  • When Niche arrives to save Lag in Veritably Abbey, Lag's overjoyed to see her... then notices she isn't wearing underwear.
  • As Connor tries to cheer Lag up and get him out of his Heroic BSoD, he tells him that there were times when he couldn't fire Shindans, either... then mentions all the girls who rejected him.
  • After Niche experiences her burst of emotion and assumes her matured form, Dr. Thunderland Jr. shares a Yonkoma describing Lag's explanation of the phenomenon.
