• Qing Chen suspects Yuan Ling is just pretending to be unconscious. So she threatens to feed him her heart's blood, which will keep him under her control. Yuan Ling immediately jumps up and grabs his sword, to Qing Chen's surprise.
  Qing Chen: If I didn't scare you, who knows when you would have opened your eyes?
• Qing Chen gives Yuan Ling a bottle of horrible-smelling medicine. She tells him it's a miraculous cure, and he should drink it. He stares at her in horror.
  • When he does drink it, it tastes so awful that he spits it out at once. He tries again, and this time he finishes the bottle. Then Qing Chen explains that he should have drunk it with something to make it taste better.
• Xi Xie says he'll bring Yuan Ling back to the palace. Qing Chen warns him there are assassins around and it might not be safe to leave. Xi Xie stares at her for a minute, then asks who could possibly stop him, the Head Sorcerer, leaving. Qing Chen immediately looks embarrassed.
• Ming Yan gets fed up with Yuan Li's antics and puts him in an acupoint lock. Then she pretends she doesn't know how to remove it. She walks off and leaves him still frozen in place.
• Cai Qian asks why Yuan Che was outside her house. He says Yuan Zhan told him to go there. Bemused, Cai Qian says Yuan Zhan also arranged for her to sneak out.
  Cai Qian: Could Zhan mean to have us...
  [They look at each other with dawning horror, as if thinking Zhan is a Shipper on Deck]
  Both: ...Go to the palace now?
• Cai Qian says Duo Xia must be ugly, just as Duo Xia walks past.
