• Matthew's opening scene, in which he finds a rat turd in a dish at a fancy restaurant.
  Matthew: It's a rat turd.
  Chef: A what?
  Matthew: A rat turd.
  Henri: A caper!
  Matthew: A rat turd.
  Henri: A caper!
  Matthew: If it's a caper, eat it.
  • Later, it's shown that he did indeed close the restaurant, much to Dr. Kibner's annoyance because it was his favorite.
• Over a dinner of homemade wok, Matthew suggests that Elizabeth talk to Dr. Kibner, who he says would be able to eliminate possibilities as to why Geoffrey has changed. These include having an affair, becoming gay, having a social disease, or becoming a Republican.
• At the book party, Matthew tries to give a witness report to the police. Jack takes the phone and says "What seems to be the trouble, Officer?"
• Kibner sending Jack on a wild goose chase.
  "Listen, there's a lady up top. Red hair, blue dress, she's interested in your work."
• Also the scene where Kibner shoves Jack against a wall.
  Kibner: Bellicec, I'm telling you for the last time, I want you to stop!
  Jack: Stop what?!
  Kibner: I want you to stand still, be quiet, and shut up!
  (Matthew goes to break up the altercation)
  Kibner: (to Elizabeth) How did you feel about what I just did?
  Jack: Why in the store? He's a nut!
• When Dr. Kibner comes to investigate the pod person at the bath house but it's gone:
  Dr. Kibner: Face it, Bellicec, you've got some friends who enjoy playing practical jokes.
  Jack: (completely serious) I don't have any friends, Dr. Kibner.
  Dr. Kibner: Then some enemies.
• The scene where Matthew takes Jack and Dr. Kibner to Elizabeth's home to show the pod to the police. After failing to find the duplicate, Matthew has to explain why he just abducted a woman in the middle of the night.
  Lieutenant: (indicating the flowerbed) So you took Elizabeth Driscoll out of here-
  Matthew: (points to bed) No, I took her from there! Her other body was in here! That's what I'm trying to explain!
• While hiding at the health department, Elizabeth finds amphetamines that belong to a coworker. After being told the bottle says "take one," Matthew casually says to take five.
• Meta-example: while filming Kevin McCarthy's cameo, a naked man who was sleeping on the street woke up and recognized him. Upon being told that they were filming a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the man said "the first one was better!"
