• Catherine de Medici, whose son is wooing Elizabeth, is told Elizabeth considers herself married to England. "If she wants a baby she will have to be divorced!"
• How Gifford introduces himself as the son of a Catholic family to Mary Queen of Scots. "I am a gentleman and love the Virgin Mary." It just sounds so awkward.
• Hatton discussing Leicester's secret marriage.
  Hatton: If I were him I'd take a long voyage.
  Sussex: I hardly think his new wife would like that.
  Hatton: Oh if I were her, I'd go too.
• Much of Michael Williams as the Duke of Alençon in episode 3. Especially his melodramatic declarations of love. He's utterly insincere, and everyone knows it, and he knows that everyone knows but he doesn't care.
