Funny / Dr. STONE reboot: Byakuya

  • Rei's introduction in Chapter 1: Byakuya takes Senku to his university in order to show him the project he is working on. Senku comes across a half-finished model of a robot girl named "Rei 01" with absurdly human-like features which prompts Senku to excitedly asks if that's the project Byakuya is working on and if it's possible to make such a thing with currect technology. Byakuya's expression falters, and he replies that no, that's just a model (though it would have been nice if it was real). He then takes Senku to see the real Rei (currenty at version 23), which is revealed to be a clunky boxy mess.
    • Senku's reactions during the whole exchange are priceless. At first he comments on how sad it was that Byakuya was a bachelor working on a robot girl during his spare time.
    • And then, when Senku sees the clunky "Rei 23" and Byakuya begins apologizing about how "boring" his robots are, the little boy gets even more excited at the prospect of building a zero-gravity-flying robot and it's implied the two worked on the robot together.
  • During chapter 2, Yakov gets fired up and flexes so hard that his muscles rip-off his clothes (like his distant descendant Kaseki). His wife Dalia begins fan-girling and squeeing as her husband starts giving out orders and assignments to the ISS crew, while the rest of the astronauts implore him to Please Put Some Clothes On.
  • Rei's lack of common sense programming in chapter 3 is genuinely hilarious:
Dalia: How old do I look to you?
    Rei: A thousand years old?
    Dalia: You hunk of junk.
  • Lillian stopping a Cock Fight between Shamil and Byakuya about leadership by ordering both of them to sleep. And then she proclaims herself the temp leader.
Lillian: Y'all've been to busy and bustling to realise we've been up for 20 hours straight. When you're tired you get grumpy. So sleep, eat and then get back to using those brains. That's the right move here. Leader Lillian's orders.
  • In the same chapter, Dalia, Yakov and the rest of the scientists aboard the ISS are more concerned with taking their scientific data, magazines and samples with them, than taking items that would actually help them survive, such as tools, food and water. Lillian, as a non-scientist, simply shrugs at the absurdity of the whole situation, and quietly sips on some juice.
  • Rei finding out the astronauts took out all of the ISS fuel in order to return to earth in chapter 5.
  • The Dragon Ball reference in chapter 6. Apparently for both Senku and Byakuya, inputing data about Goku and Vegeta was more important than common-sense circuits or basic human biology knowledge.
