Funny / Don't Go to Sleep!

• At the beginning of the book, the Amsterdam family are having dinner..
  Mrs. Amsterdam: How was school today, kids?
  Greg: [speaking into his cassette player with a safari guide voice] Mrs. Amsterdam asks her children about their day.
  Mrs. Amsterdam: [annoyed] Greg, do you have to do that at the dinner table?
  Greg: [still talking like a safari guide] Mrs. Amsterdam complains about her son Greg's behavior.
  Mrs. Amsterdam: Greg!
  Greg: [still talking like a safari guide] Greg's mother's voice gets louder. Could she be angry?
  Mrs. Amsterdam: GREG!
  Greg: [now speaking normally] I have to do it, Mom. It's for school!
• As part of one of his reality-warped identities, Matt looks in the mirror and sees what he considers the worst outcome possible: an old man. He quickly rushes back to bed so he can transform into something else.
• When Matt is in a reality where he is a monster, he starts rampaging and eating cars. People look at him in shock, and he wonders why they're staring. He thinks "What do they expect a monster to eat? Rice Krispies?"
