The story has humorous moments in lightening up the tone.
First Half (Prologue - Chapter X)
- In general, Akiko herself is a pretty smart-ass character enough to give light-hearted moments to the story.
- Chapter II shows after Yahiro exposed himself as 'Sugar', and just before Shu/Heath/Akiko getting pushed out of the train, Akiko attempts to lighten the mood by saying, "Are you guys ready for another day at the institute of learning and good manners?!"
- Chapter III gives Akiko being as sassy in front of Segai and GHQ guards. While answering Segai's question, she said out loud of "Pantyhose!"
- Chapter IV shows Heath and Ayase's first acquaintances during Heath and Akiko's training in Funeral Parlor. One of which is Ayase writing 'insulting names' in being rough on him since she took down his 'pretty boy ass' in her wheelchair. Another is Heath's accidental kiss in Ayase's lips, resulting in Ayase punching him in the face. Yet, Tsugumi takes a picture of it in the last minute and shows it to Funeral Parlor.
- Chapter VIII gave this dream scene of Heath being seduced by two Cognitive Ayases, till the dream is interrupted by the real Ayase in causing him to wake up, much to Ayase's annoyance of questioning what is all about.
- Chapter IX shows a flashback moment of Akiko back in middle school, accidentally discovered her parents having sex. Hifumi witness her daughter seeing it, experience a freak out that Akiko compared it to one of these grudge-like movies.
