Why is Boyfriend able to defeat Mighty.zip, beyond Girlfriend protecting him? Because they’re playing by the rules of Friday Night Funkin’ rather than Sonic.exe, meaning while he can pull out all kinds of tricks against the player, he can't flat-out deny them victory.

Many note that Soul Clash feels like a boss battle. Quite fitting the third song of a Sonic mod is felt as such when the Third Act of a classic Sonic game is typically when a Boss is fought!
