Fridge / Vs. Sonic.exe D-Sides

Fridge Brilliance

  • Why is Boyfriend able to defeat Mighty.zip, beyond Girlfriend protecting him? Because they’re playing by the rules of Friday Night Funkin’ rather than Sonic.exe, meaning while he can pull out all kinds of tricks against the player, he can't flat-out deny them victory.
    • Adding to this is how Mighty.zip isn’t corrupting FNF as he does a Sonic game, symbolized by the game not only advertising his presence alongside FNF, but also how Boyfriend is the one to confront him first rather than vice versa.
    • And of course, there’s the fact that in the original story, Mighty.zip’s victims were non-supernatural beings. Girlfriend, however, is a demon, thus she’s at a similar, if not higher power level!
  • Why do all the gimmicks stop in the pixelated Icy Isle segment of You Can't Run? Take a look at Mighty.zip, and the answer becomes clear. He's trying to lull Boyfriend into a false sense of security, which is why he looks almost like a normal Mighty, trying an indirect approach instead of outright attacking!
  • Why does Fraud have so many long notes? Because the fake Knuckles is trying to keep up appearances, and when his mouth is closed, he has no lips.
  • It could be said that Hyper Claws is a bit outmatched compared to Boyfriend when it comes to the mechanics conveying their fight. Not only is Girlfriend completely absent when it comes to protecting him, but Boyfriend is the one leading the vocals for a good majority of the song, meaning that Hyper Claws is the one who has to keep up.
  • Many note that Soul Clash feels like a boss battle. Quite fitting the third song of a Sonic mod is felt as such when the Third Act of a classic Sonic game is typically when a Boss is fought!
    • One of Ray's animations has him turn into a cyclops for a moment. Seems like a random design choice to be creepy but notice that the eye that forms is in the shape of…Zephaniah's pupils!
    • During the song, Maria interrupts while BF is still singing, seemingly taking his part without Zephaniah's input, further shown when static appears, an indication of phases about to shift, in the middle of Zephaniah's part which doesn’t happens with Tails or Knuckles. Befitting that the Doctor would not only take the spotlight for herself, but also deliver one of the hardest parts to the song, being the Boss for most of the original Sonic games!

Fridge Horror

Fridge Logic

  • The character in the freeplay art for "Black Sun" is TheChewster's EXE. Artwork for him shows that, on occasion, ZIP can have glowing yellow pupils, and as for the teeth issue, chalk it up to it being Depending on the Artist.
