Fridge / The Twits

Fridge Logic:

  • It is said that the birds cannot understand "the weird African language the monkeys spoke", so it stands to reason that the monkey talk is translated from African. If the monkeys therefore cannot speak English, how can they understand the Twits?
    • Rule of Funny probably comes into it.
    • It is in fact possible to understand a language without being able to speak it yourself.
    • Also, could it be that the birds don't speak English, but some kind of bird language that the monkeys didn't understand?
    • Same way you train your dogs to do tricks. You don't necessarily have to have them associate the word "Sit" with the action, they just know that when you make that sound that's what they need to do; you could teach them to sit if you say "Pineapple" and it'd have just as much meaning to them. The monkeys might not comprehend English as a full language, but they know enough to understand what to do when Mr. Twit says "Juggle".
    • Animal Talk?
  • The Hugtight sticky glue is stated to be stickier than any other glue in the world, so how does Mr Twit detach the wretched caught birds from the Big Dead Tree? Presumably he does not cut their feet off, because of the drawing of the birds' feet sticking out of the pie.

Fridge Brilliance:

  • When the Twits believe they are upside down because everything in the living room has been stuck upside down to the ceiling, as well as the pictures on the walls being inverted, why do they not just look outside? Because their house has no windows at all, as was mentioned when the house was first described.

Fridge Horror:

  • If this story takes place in the same universe as The Enormous Crocodile, then where are Humpy-Rumpy and Trunky? Did the Twits do something terrible to them?
    • Still back home in Africa. It was only monkeys that Mr. Twit wanted for his circus; he'd have nowhere to keep a hippo or an elephant and no way of training them on his own.
