Fridge / The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe

Go To

Fridge Horror

  • The ending gets worse when you remember that Galactus isn't actually a villain and that it's likely that Frank actually didn't kill any of the space based villains like the Skrulls or Thanos not to mention interdimensional horrors like Zom and Shuma-Gorath. By killing all the heroes, Frank Castle has left humanity defenseless against threats beyond our world.
  • Assuming the power-sets of the cast are similar to their mainstream versions, Dr. Doom can Body Surf, and potentially survived Frank's attack by jumping ship. Now unimpeded, the whole world is up for grabs. Granted, Doom does solve a lot of problems on the occasions he does take over, but things also tend to go wrong as well.
    • Even if he can't Body Surf, Doom, Namor, and Black Panther are rulers of their own countries. Countries that will be more than a little pissed that Frank wasn't executed sooner. To say nothing of what Odin might do.
      • Combining the two would be even more horrifying. Imagine a Body Surfing Dr. Doom, with his loyal Latverians by his side, as they plan their next move after Punisher's demise. One wonders what Doom and his people would plan after that....and since we don't get any answers the Nothing Is Scarier factor combines Fridge Horror with Nightmare Fuel.
  • We've seen in other X-Men stories that anti-mutant hysteria can get so bad that time travel has been employed to fix the damage. And that's with the X-Men to help. When the next generation of mutants comes up, as alluded to by Frank's backers, how bad will things get?
  • Since the Punisher's mission was to kill all superhumans, who's to say that the Power Pack were no exception? And furthermore, how would their parents react to the brutal murder of their children?
  • What exactly DID Punisher do to the other superheroes that did NOT appear on-panel?
  • Considering the targets of Punisher's crusade, who's to say that Badass Normal superheroes were no exception?
Fridge Logic:
  • Since Frank Castle starts his mission by murdering some of the most iconic Marvel heroes and is clearly shown to be a danger to all superhumans regardless of alignment, one has to wonder why the other heroes don't team up to stop the Punisher instead of just wait for him to bump them off one by one.
    • Also Worth mentioning is that half of the heroes are invulnerable to conventional attacks, which the term "bulletproof" would be mundane at best. Previous works, such as this ''What If'' dealt with Punisher being pushed back by superheroes after Spiderman was killed.
  • If a magnetic mine on the head was all it took to both disable Dr. Doom's armor and destroy all his doombots, you'd think Reed Richards would have figured that out by now.
  • There are a fair number of superheroes that would likely self-resurrect after Frank's crusade, like Moon Knight or, since the story was written in 1995, Cannonball. It's also not hard to figure that in the event something worse happened to this Earth after Frank's killing spree, someone like Cable or whoever succeeded Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme would take action to undo or prevent some of the fatalities.

Fridge Brilliance

  • When, and not if, any of the extraterrestrial and otherworldly villains mentioned above in Fridge Horror get out of control, Punisher really will have killed the whole Marvel Universe.
