Fridge / The Last Seduction

  • In the end, things definitely look very grimly for Mike... But come to think of it, he wasn't wearing any gloves and left plenty of fingerprints on the gun and the knife - yet none on the mace, which was the only murder weapon actually used. Buying four pairs of handcuffs at once hardly went unnoticed - and it is implied that it was Bridget who'd bought them (Mike doesn't even know where the key is). And then there's a strange "coincidence" of people dying around Bridget. On the other hand, it's hard to understand why the "Cahill" paper was so crucial: it's highly unlikely Bridget left any fingerprints on it, and even if it's possible to trace the printer, chances are she used one in Interstate Corporation, accessible to both her and Mike.
    • Mike was apparently caught raping Bridget, so it makes sense that her word would count more than his if they go to trial. There are also ways to explain the lack of fingerprints on the mace—maybe he wiped his prints off of the real murder weapon, but didn't think to remove them from the other weapons he brought. He was caught in the act, so the jury might think that he planned to remove the rest of his prints before he left. All things considered, it's at least very plausible that a jury would believe that Mike was guilty and Bridget is innocent.
    • The "Cahill" paper is important because it's evidence that Bridget tricked Mike into entering the apartment. Bridget obviously knows where her husband lived, so it wouldn't make sense for Mike to deceive her in that way. Since Mike knows the truth, he could use that piece of evidence to build an entire case against her.
      • As said before, building a case against Bridget on the basis of the paper - given that there's no evidence it was her who put it there in the first place - is highly unlikely. With a favorable jury this fact might just push the Mike's case to the other side of reasonable doubt though, thus getting them to acquit Mike. Looks more like a last straw, however, since it's very flimsy and circumstantial (as in, Mike could have planted it there himself just to sow doubt).
      • In the end, it doesn't matter either way if the Cahill paper would have helped Mike. Bridget burned it.
