Fridge / Super Smash Brothers: Guardians Arise!

Go To

Fridge Brilliance

  • The Guardians have traits that are either similar, contrast with, or resemble those of their respective Smashers.
    • Pit is an eager and cocky fighter willing to battle people and enjoying the thrill of it. Psyche is an emaciated slave girl who, despite her stature, is reckless and bull-headed.
    • Samus is a bounty hunter who defends the galaxy from evildoers and ensures that no innocent being has to suffer the way she did. Golfer is a trained bounty hunter enlisted by Tabuu who doesn't take betrayal lightly.
    • Pikachu is known for emitting erratic amounts of electricity through its various attacks. This befits Pikana's Ax-Crazy personality.
    • Yoshi's games are known for their vibrant imagery, especially since Yoshi's Island features the Mario Bros. as babies. Mah's mindset shows that she lives for a peaceful time and yearns for one before Tabuu's incursion.
    • Ike is a purveyor of fighting alongside the laguz, allying with them on many occasions to defeat threats like the Mad King Ashnard and Asherah. Cameron is a mercenary who resorts to killing countless laguz to justify his own survival.
    • Most iterations of Link have humble origins, such as being raised by mystical creatures and meager peasants. Rinku is someone who was raised by a high-ranking king, only he's evil.
    • While iterations of Zelda are raised into royalty, Cimar comes from a humble, underground background of scholars and disciples.
    • Marth is a prince who's willing to return to battle no matter what, and has fought the War of Shadows and the War of Heroes with a eager spirit. Nask is a sleepyhead who aspires to become a soldier. In addition, Nask eagerly training to become a pegasus knight is akin to Marth's canonical love interest Caeda.
    • Wolf is a meager mercenary for hire with somewhat little to do in the overall scheme of his home series' plot, merely being there because the resident main antagonists tend to hire him and his team to take down Star Fox. Heather has long been affiliated with a strong family, the Wolfons, who have been spearheading a resistance group against Tabuu.
    • While Picho and Pichn don't exactly have the most distinct of personalities, their status as twins mostly comes from their Smashers Ness and Kirby's home series, as both Earthbound and a couple of Kirby games end with the player confronting an Eldritch Abomination of some sorts (Giygas for Ness and quite a lot to count for Kirby). It could also be a nod to them sharing the same voice actress.
    • Meta Knight is a character who's known for having a Mysterious Past, rarely revealing it due to his aloof nature. Wrath is more or less known as the (adoptive) son of Tabuu, the story's Big Bad.
    • Snake is a gruff, seasoned assassin and a rather brooding mercenary, and his debut in Brawl is the first instance of an M-Rated game coming over to Smash. Ridere is soft-spoken and a bright-hearted comic relief character whose presence lightens the tone of the story with slapstick and internet memes.
    • Roy's parents are popularly believed in fanon to be Eliwood and Ninian, though he spends most of his time in his game being concerned with matters regarding his army and the conflict he's embroiled in. Traca is someone who's willing to do anything, even betraying her best friend, to find out what her lineage is.
