• The scene in the second episode of series 2 ("Change") where Tim goes to the dole office and is interviewed by an Afro-Caribbean woman who, while initially suspicious, is very helpful to Tim once she learns that he lost his last job due to his hatred of The Phantom Menace (and Jar-Jar Binks in particular). Jar-Jar was widely criticized as being a negative stereotype of Afro-Carribeans.
• What happens if you skip to the end of the Skip to the End documentary? You get one last glimpse of Tim and Daisy living Happily Ever After. In other words, as well as referencing a joke in the show the title's also an instruction.
• The comically unsuitable and uncool "party mix" Daisy puts on for the housewarming party includes "American Pie" - not only is the subject matter of the song a little bleak for party background music, but the unstated joke is that the LP version is over eight minutes long, which could feel like an eternity in the context of an already awkward social gathering.
