- It's established in Exodus that the first two series were filmed In-Universe, with some of the nurses-cum-actors from the first series complaining about the silly rituals Lars von Trier made them speak and act. The Fridge Brilliance occurs at the end of Exodus, where it's revealed that Lars von Trier is the Devil. He made the cast speak and act rubbish on purpose, only the rituals weren't rubbish. They were the genuine article, meant to open the portal to Riget and bring forth hell on earth.
