• Clara breaking into Lara's house looks less suspicious once you know about her supernatural intuition. Lara is well known as a woman who wants to help the less fortunate, so all Clara did was skip the step of actually asking her. She already knew Lara would be willing to give food.
• A Mistress comes into her power once her mother dies...and Clara only appeared once Earth was on the brink of death. This may also explain why new Mistresses (Grace, Murky, Taya) are popping up years before the original ones might have children. The Earth is greater than any human mother, and her daughters are many.
