Fridge / Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Fridge Brilliance

  • Shriek is the perfect nemesis to Ori, when one thinks about it. You have Shriek who tried to find a family in her own kind, only to be cruelly shunned by them, and became bitter as a result. You have Ori who was raised by Naru, who may not be the same species as a leaf spirit, but both are happier for it. In other words, their final battle is one of Good vs. Evil, Love vs. Hate.
  • Ori has a blue aura to their light, Seir is a ball of yellow light. Together, their light makes up the green of the new Spirit Tree, green like vibrant, healthy nature.
  • The ancestral trees that grant the abilities in this game don't just have unique shapes among each other - they also resemble the ability that they give. For instance, the Double Jump tree looks like an arrow that makes a loop and points upwards, the Grapple tree is shaped like the given ability's icon, the Bash tree has its trunk growing one way and a branch going around it and in the opposite direction, and the Burrow tree's shape is a spiral that is wide on the top and narrow on the bottom like a drill.
  • Ori joins with Seir to create a new Spirit Tree. However, they don't become just any sort of tree — besides being implied to be the same kind of tree seen in Nibel (where Ori came from), there is also an interesting detail during the montage as the tree grows: the treetop is actually shaped like Ori's head, with a big round shape and two extensions resembling their ears, and Seir in the center to symbolize their union.
  • Some players were left wondering why did Ori have to re-learn certain abilities they knew in previous game like Bash, etc...but if you look at the prologue cutscene of Ori and their family raising Ku, a little over a year (or even longer) passes where they live carefree, happy lives. It is possible that, due to land of Nibel becoming more peaceful, Ori simply had no need for their abilities and forgot how to use them. It wasn't until they got to Niwen and encountered various ancestral trees that jogged their memories so they restored some of their old abilities along with learning new ones.
