Fridge Brilliance

  • Why do Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang need to clap hands in order for their powers to work? Think about how what sound is made when you take a photo. That and some camera crews use their hands as a clapboard to start a shoot.
  • In episode 5 Xiaoshi realizes that their client survived the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, but that meant his basketball captain, first crush and his mother didn't make it out. Of course the episode that highlights their client giving his last words to the people he'll never see again once the quake hits would be episode number 4.
    • Also the way the clouds are formed in the sky are well known for heralding incoming earthquakes.
  • While Chen Xiao's final words to his captain, crush and mother are muted it's likely so, Chinese viewers who were affected by the earthquake could think of their own words or phrases they wanted to give to loved ones who may not have survived.
  • After the reveal that Liu Lan was being truthful about simply getting advice from the kids' teacher rather than having an affair, her claim that the camera was a gift might seem questionable - but given that he was advising her on the option of contacting an attorney, it's likely that he gave her the camera (or at least told her to buy it) to document the domestic abuse.

Fridge Horror

  • Doudou may have been saved in time by Cheng Xiaoshi, but how many other children did Aunt May use her mind control drug ball on who weren't as lucky? She makes reference to "most kids" being too scared to investigate or fight her, which implies that she's been doing this for a while.
  • Who else did Red Eyes possess in order to commit his crimes? How many innocent civilians woke up wondering what had happened, not knowing they were used to kill another person?
    • Or even scarier, the serial killer simply possessed those people's bodies and forced them to their deaths before leaving their bodies.
  • A flashback shows that as a child, Li Tianchen rejected a specialist appointment scheduling call on the grounds that he doesn't think Xixi needs anyone else to take care of her. Was that a regular occurrence? Additionally, after the twins were taken in by Qian Jin, it seems unlikely that she would've been given much - if any - professional care or support.
  • In season two, Li Tianchen tortures Lu Guang by putting salt in his reopened stab wound. On its own it's bad enough, especially given his terrifying expression beforehand, but this happens to be at the same time that Li Tianxi is remotely reading Lu Guang to find out whether he's all right, sharing in his thoughts, memories, and experiences in the process. In other words, the poor kid had to experience being tortured by her own protective older brother - even setting aside anything she might've seen in Lu Guang's memories, it's no wonder she breaks down crying soon after...
    • It's probably for the best that Li Tianchen never found out about this, especially since it was one of the siblings' final interactions before Xixi died.
