Fridge Brilliance

• The ending of the story has two levels Character Development, showing how Cody and May came out of the experience as better people.
  • First, they assure Rose that their getting a divorce is not her fault. Previously, Cody and May had a Never My Fault mindset, always blaming each other. They now recognize that Never My Fault isn't the same as "not your fault", and sometimes one should take accountability.
  • Second, from what we've seen of their previous interaction with other creatures, they had a bad habit of lying and making promises they didn't intend to keep in order to get their way. When Rose asks if their apology means they'll stay together, instead of readily saying "yes" just to make her stay, Cody and May make a more reasonable promise that (no matter what they choose to do with their marriage) they will always love Rose. They've learned that promises should be made more carefully.

Fridge Horror:

• Although Cutie is confirmed to have been revived after her death at Cody and May's hands, you can see that all of the Living Toys and other objects around the house are aware of what's happening in the "real" world and remember all the times they're interacted with there. Considering what happened to Cutie — including the particularly violent and torturous way she was killed and then being stitched back together by the same people who did it — and her evidently having a mind close to that of a small child, she might have been physically repaired. But what toll will it have taken on the poor girl mentally? A fully-grown adult going through what Cutie did would be more than enough to absolutely traumatize them, let alone someone as young and innocent as her.

Fridge Logic

• There's a contradiction in the script. In the snow level, they mention how they haven't gone on a vacation since Rose was born, but in the Music level, there is a slideshow of pictures that include them in front of a desert palace with Rose. These pictures appear to be photos from one of the actual developers.
  • The simple answer is that the picture may have been taken from a regular beach trip, rather than a full vacation. Granted, it would be a long trip depending on where the house is, but it would still mean the statement in the snow level would be accurate (Presumably).
