  • Of the four Sins we've seen so far, only one, Mammon, is genuinely loathsome. Asmodeus and Beelzebub seem genuinely dedicated to making sure their subjects have a good time, and Lucifer isn't so much evil as depressed and cynical after having his dreams crushed for so long. Why? Because of the four sins they represent, Pride (Lucifer), Gluttony (Beelzebub), Lust (Asmodeus), and Greed (Mammon), Greed is the only one to have absolutely nothing redeeming about it. Lust and Gluttony one can at least indulge in with others to have fun while it's good to have some Pride so you can stand up for yourself. The three even display this: Asmodeus hates Love Potions for being "artificial bullshit", Beelzebub worries that Blitzo is drinking not to have fun, and Lucifer taught Charlie to "not take shit from demons".
  • A criticism some fans have is that the characters are relatively quick to talk back against the Sins or royals or generally don't show them enough reverence, despite them being the rulers of Hell. However, Word of God says the royalty rule through fear. Charlie is as far as fearsome as you can get (unless you do something really bad), Asmodeus and Beelzebub are openly pretty benevolent for demons, and Lucifer is pretty goofy. Additionally, Loona's more casual attitude towards Bee and the Hotel crew's casual attitude towards Lucifer could be justified by Loona being invited by Bee's boyfriend and the Hotel crew being friends with Charlie.
  • Most of the other Sins are usually beloved by their own ring's subjects, but Lucifer and Charlie from the pride ring don't inspire that kind of reverence, Lucifer barely getting any sense of following out of the fear he imposes with his power while Charlie is mostly mocked or dismissed by everyone. While it's quite an oddity, in Helluva Boss is confirmed the non-Pride Hell ring citizens (which mostly consist on native hellborns) are not universally evil and for all the crappy stuff you can hope from hell the people around can be as good or bad as most people. The pride ring however is mostly populated by sinners, who by definition are mortals who arrived to hell because they were already nasty when then died and likely would still act like jerks afterwards. The other sins could simply afford to use their charisma to have their people content knowing there's good amongst the bad, Lucifer's subjects however are usually already rotten from the get go so trying to be nice to them was probably a waste of time until the Hazbin Hotel appeared.
    • To twist the knife even further, angels are supposed to be revered and respected as God's soldiers and messengers. There's no worse punishment Heaven's Elders could have inflicted to a Fallen Angel like Lucifer than having subjects that hate you and the only respect you could get from them is your capacity to hurt them in return if they even dare to touch you. "Be not afraid" is sadly a luxury Lucifer couldn't take with sinners.
