It seems odd that Yong's name is simply and literally Korean for "dragon." However, he's been the only dragon in Korea for a very long time; it's quite likely the other way around, that the Korean language adopted his name as the word for dragon because he was the only one they knew.
In the previous series, Marci was warned over and over that if she wasn't careful, Ghost would reverse the binding and make her his human, rather than him being her spirit. In this series, we finally see what that looks like, with the master mage Kauffman serving the Gameskeeper slavishly and doing nothing to reign in his worst aspects for little more than a few trinkets.
Opal's mother and Yong both say that Yong will remember his consort and daughter after they die, and act as if this is some great gift. Due to the way the memories of the living keep the dead safe in the afterlife, a dragon remembering (and encouraging humans to remember) a mortal will give them a very strong, pleasant, and long-lasting afterlife. It's the closest thing to immortality he can give them.
