• It's entirely possible that the Dreadful Dutchess is the Twilight King's estranged eldest daughter. The Dreadful Dutchess tells Courtney that her mother died after refusing to abandon the sunlit mortal world. The Twilight King tells Connie that his queen likewise refused to give up the mortal world and that the majority of his other daughters either left him or died trying to bring her back. This reading would also make sense with the hierarchy of nobility (the eldest child of a king might well inherit a dutchy) and their motivations (both deal with their loss by seeking out children to love.)
