- Regardless of how one views O'Brien's writing, the sort of world his characters (and apparently the author himself) envisions for wouldn't sit too well with many.
- The doctor in Eclipse Of The Sun is supposedly a villain, because she:
- a) Suggests that a child's persistent bladder infection might be caused be sexual abuse - a thing that might cause that medical condition - and she doesn't even go to the police - she brings the possibility up to the child's mother.
- b) Reveals that a woman is committing blatant fraud, passing off a child who is reported widely as missing on the national news as her own son.
Does the author think that doctors should turn a blind eye to both of these things, just because the people who are doing them are conservative Christians?
