Fridge / All the Wrong Questions

Fridge Brilliance

  • One of the first clues that brings the integrity of Armstrong Feint's character into question is when Ellington is the only one of Lemony's associates to have never read The Wind in the Willows. One of the recurring themes of Snicket's works is that good people read good books, and this particular book is one of his favourites. If Armstrong Feint was a good man and a good father, as Ellington claimed, he would not have failed to introduce her to this book.
  • In the second book, it's revealed to us that Cleo Knight has been kidnapped, and we see her car, which is called a Dilemma. If she was held against her will, does this mean that it's a Prisoner's Dilemma ?
  • Theodora claiming that a preteen Lemony is her husband is supposed to show how incompetent she is as a volunteer. But then one remembers that in the Bad Beginning Count Olaf was allowed to marry Violet despite the glaring age difference only because he was her guardian and gave her permission. In other words Theodora's claim is stupid, but considering the fact that she is, for all intents and purposes, seen as Lemony's guardian, what she said may be completely legal in the eyes of the law in this universe.
